The New Era of ALPINA: A Fresh Identity and a Bold Future

For the first time in over two decades, the ALPINA badge is evolving. As the brand fully integrates into the BMW Group for 2026, it has officially unveiled a refined emblem that honors its mechanical soul while embracing a minimalist future. While the traditional red-and-blue shield has been retired, the two iconic symbols of ALPINA’s heritage remain front and center: the throttle body and the crankshaft.

This new "flat" design isn’t just about aesthetics; it signals a major shift in positioning. BMW is moving ALPINA into a "Luxury Layer" that sits comfortably between the high-end BMW 7 Series and the ultra-luxury of Rolls-Royce. With a cleaner typeface and a digitized look, the brand is preparing to take on the likes of Mercedes-Maybach with a focus on "fine driving" and bespoke craftsmanship.

Flagships Reimagined: The G72 and G69

The first vehicles to carry this new identity are already generating buzz under secretive internal codenames. The upcoming ALPINA 7 Series, dubbed the G72, and a high-end SUV based on the X7, known as the G69, will spearhead the relaunch. These separate designations suggest that these won't just be "tuned" BMWs; they will feature substantial mechanical and structural differences from their donor cars.

In a move that marks a true turning point, these flagship models will be manufactured entirely within BMW Group plants that have been specially upgraded to meet ALPINA’s exacting standards. Inside, enthusiasts can expect "superior quality leather" as standard, with a level of personalization previously reserved for the most elite automotive circles. Most notably, while V8s and straight-sixes remain, the G72 and G69 are rumored to include fully electric variants; a first for the ALPINA name.

Redesigning a Legend: The 20-Spoke Wheel

You cannot talk about ALPINA without mentioning its wheels. The legendary 20-spoke design, which has defined the brand's silhouette for half a century, is also receiving a makeover. Teased recently on social media, the updated wheel design maintains the unmistakable multi-spoke arrangement but introduces a more sculpted, contemporary finish.

This evolution ensures that even as the cars move toward 800-volt electric systems and autonomous navigation, the classic "ALPINA look" remains recognizable from across the street. It is a perfect example of the brand’s new philosophy: traditional DNA meets modern performance.

Two Paths for the Bovensiepen Legacy

While BMW now stewards the ALPINA brand, the original founding family in Buchloe isn't stepping away from the spotlight. The historic facility has been rebranded as ALPINA Classic, dedicated to supporting the 40,000 legendary vehicles already on the road. Meanwhile, Andreas and Florian Bovensiepen, the sons of the late founder, have launched a new venture: Bovensiepen Automobile GmbH.

Their debut project is a stunning, coachbuilt GT coupe designed in collaboration with Zagato. Based on a heavily modified BMW M4 chassis, this carbon-bodied masterpiece features a signature "double-bubble" roof and 611 horsepower. It serves as a reminder that while the ALPINA name now enters a corporate chapter of unprecedented scale, the spirit of independent, artisanal Bavarian engineering is still very much alive in Buchloe.

The 2027 BMW 3 Series Redefines Itself in Gas and Electric

For the first time, BMW is treating its most iconic nameplate to a parallel transformation, debuting a next-generation gasoline sedan and its all-new electric sibling, the i3 , side-by-side. While prototypes are still heavily camouflaged, the design direction is clear, and it promises to usher in a new era of aesthetics, power, and interior technology. The Neue Klasse Design Language Takes Over If you want a sneak peek at the 2027 3 Series, look no further than the recently unveiled iX3 electric SUV. BMW’s design strategy is aligning its gas and electric models, meaning both the new 3 Series and i3 will embrace the clean, modern look of the Neue Klasse platform. This shift finally moves away from the more contentious kidney grille designs of the recent past, favoring a flatter, tauter aesthetic with tidier proportions and minimal visual clutter. The key difference between the two sedans will be subtle: the com...

Facelift For Bavarian Police Force BMW Vehicles

For the better part of 20 years, Bavarian police cars were manufactured with silver BMW 3 series vehicles. Prior to the silver color scheme, these vehicles sported a white base coat. Recently, the Bavarian government has decided to revamp their BMW police vehicles in terms of a color scheme. The new color scheme draws inspiration from the nostalgic white base coat used prior to 2003.  Modeled after their previously utilized retro white, blue, and yellow color scheme, new Bavarian BMW police vehicles have gone back to their roots by shedding the apparently outdated silver and green paint job. All new Bavarian police vehicle will be manufactured from BMW 3 Series Touring models with the new color scheme. This shift comes primarily from BMW's discontinuation of the Glacier Silver base color for the 3 series, but a higher resale value for white vehicles might also be a variable.  In contrast to the prior white Bavarian police BMWs, the new vehicles will be manufactured with a Mine...
