Leaked 2027 BWW M Cars Reveal a New Era of Performance

BMW’s "M" division usually keeps its cards close to its chest, but a recent digital slip-up on the company’s official U.S. website has given enthusiasts an accidental roadmap for 2027. Briefly listed before being scrubbed, two new models. the M2 xDrive and the M350 xDrive, confirm that BMW is preparing to radically shift the performance landscape for its most iconic compact and mid-size cars.

While the names have vanished from the site, the "leak" serves as a formal confirmation of what insiders have suspected for years: all-wheel drive is finally coming to the baby M, and the legendary 3 Series is about to undergo a significant identity shift.

M2 xDrive: Grip Meets Grunt

The BMW M2 has long been the "purist’s" choice, the last bastion of rear-wheel-drive simplicity in the M lineup. However, for the 2027 model year, that is about to change. The accidental listing confirms an M2 xDrive is in the works, likely hitting production in August 2026. This move aligns the M2 with its bigger siblings, the M3 and M4, by offering a rear-biased all-wheel-drive system.

But purists, don't panic. Reports suggest that BMW will keep the rear-wheel-drive, six-speed manual M2 in the lineup alongside the new xDrive version. The all-wheel-drive model will almost certainly be automatic-only, featuring a retuned S58 engine pushing roughly 475 horsepower. The added traction will likely shave tenths of a second off the 0–100 km/h time, making it a year-round performance weapon that can handle more than just a sunny track day.

M350 xDrive: The Neue Klasse Evolution

The second "leak" is perhaps even more significant for the brand’s future. The appearance of the M350 xDrive marks the beginning of a major naming convention shift. As BMW transitions to its "Neue Klasse" architecture, it is dropping the "i" suffix from its internal combustion models to avoid confusion with its all-electric "i" prefix (like the i3).

The M350 is set to replace the current M340i, serving as the top-tier "M-Lite" version of the next-generation 3 Series (codenamed G50). While it isn't a full-electric car, it will adopt the sleek, minimalist design language of the Neue Klasse sedans. Under the hood, we expect an evolution of the beloved B58 inline-six engine, potentially boosted to around 417 horsepower. This model is designed to bridge the gap between traditional petrol power and the upcoming iM3 flagship, ensuring that those who still crave the sound of a straight-six aren't left behind.

A Glimpse into 2027

These leaks are part of a massive "M Offensive" that will see the launch of 30 new or updated M cars by 2029. By briefly listing these 2027 model-year vehicles, BMW has essentially confirmed that the next two years will be a whirlwind of transformation. From the first-ever quad-motor electric M cars to the refined, all-weather M2, the goal is clear: universal performance that adapts to every climate and every type of driver.

While we wait for the official world premieres, likely scheduled for late spring or summer of 2026, these "accidental" listings have given us plenty to talk about. The M2 is getting "snow boots," and the 3 Series is getting a digital-age makeover.

The 2027 BMW 3 Series Redefines Itself in Gas and Electric

The most significant overhaul in the history of the BMW 3 Series is coming. For the first time, BMW is treating its most iconic nameplate to a parallel transformation, debuting a next-generation gasoline sedan and its all-new electric sibling, the i3 , side-by-side. While prototypes are still heavily camouflaged, the design direction is clear, and it promises to usher in a new era of aesthetics, power, and interior technology. The Neue Klasse Design Language Takes Over If you want a sneak peek at the 2027 3 Series, look no further than the recently unveiled iX3 electric SUV. BMW’s design strategy is aligning its gas and electric models, meaning both the new 3 Series and i3 will embrace the clean, modern look of the Neue Klasse platform. This shift finally moves away from the more contentious kidney grille designs of the recent past, favoring a flatter, tauter aesthetic with tidier proportions and minimal visual clutter. The key difference between the two sedans will be subtle: the com...

Facelift For Bavarian Police Force BMW Vehicles

For the better part of 20 years, Bavarian police cars were manufactured with silver BMW 3 series vehicles. Prior to the silver color scheme, these vehicles sported a white base coat. Recently, the Bavarian government has decided to revamp their BMW police vehicles in terms of a color scheme. The new color scheme draws inspiration from the nostalgic white base coat used prior to 2003.  Modeled after their previously utilized retro white, blue, and yellow color scheme, new Bavarian BMW police vehicles have gone back to their roots by shedding the apparently outdated silver and green paint job. All new Bavarian police vehicle will be manufactured from BMW 3 Series Touring models with the new color scheme. This shift comes primarily from BMW's discontinuation of the Glacier Silver base color for the 3 series, but a higher resale value for white vehicles might also be a variable.  In contrast to the prior white Bavarian police BMWs, the new vehicles will be manufactured with a Mine...
