BMW iX3 Debuts Daring White Steering Wheel Option

The 2026 BMW iX3 is far more than an updated model; it is a foundational reset for the brand’s electric portfolio. As the first vehicle on the all-new Neue Klasse platform, the second-generation electric SUV is a complete departure from its predecessor, featuring entirely new exterior and interior designs, hardware, and software. Amidst this revolutionary change, one subtle yet striking detail has captured attention: a sophisticated, all-white steering wheel.

A Complete Revolution for the iX3

While the overall design of the new iX3 is a major step forward, the steering wheel signifies a willingness by BMW to experiment with luxury personalization. The white wheel, featured prominently in the initial press shots of the vehicle, offers a stark, modern contrast to the often dark-toned cockpits common in the segment. For buyers seeking this bold, daring aesthetic to complement their new electric crossover, the option will be made available starting with iX3 units built from March 2026.

The Details of the Daring Design

This striking accessory is being offered as an Individual option and is naturally reserved exclusively for models configured with the Digital White interior theme. The white wheel’s form factor is largely based on the black Sport steering wheel but features a key distinction: the traditional 'M' badge found at the bottom of the spokes is notably absent. Like all updated steering wheels in the 2026 iX3, it proudly showcases BMW's slightly updated roundel, featuring a flatter and cleaner appearance that aligns with the brand’s modernized identity.

Luxury That’s Accessible Across the Lineup

In a pleasant surprise for customers, BMW is not restricting this distinctive upgrade to the top-tier trims. The company’s product manager confirmed that the white steering wheel will be available as a tickable box across the entire iX3 lineup. Whether a customer chooses the entry-level model, the sporty M Sport, or the fully-loaded M Sport Pro, they will have the opportunity to enhance their interior with this eye-catching Individual option. This move underscores BMW's commitment to making bespoke personalization accessible to all buyers of the new, revolutionary iX3.

BMW’s design strategy is aligning its gas and electric models, meaning both the new 3 Series and i3 will embrace the clean, modern look of the Neue Klasse platform. This shift finally moves away from the more contentious kidney grille designs of the recent past, favoring a flatter, tauter aesthetic with tidier proportions and minimal visual clutter. The key difference between the two sedans will be subtle: the com...

Facelift For Bavarian Police Force BMW Vehicles

For the better part of 20 years, Bavarian police cars were manufactured with silver BMW 3 series vehicles. Prior to the silver color scheme, these vehicles sported a white base coat. Recently, the Bavarian government has decided to revamp their BMW police vehicles in terms of a color scheme. The new color scheme draws inspiration from the nostalgic white base coat used prior to 2003.  Modeled after their previously utilized retro white, blue, and yellow color scheme, new Bavarian BMW police vehicles have gone back to their roots by shedding the apparently outdated silver and green paint job. All new Bavarian police vehicle will be manufactured from BMW 3 Series Touring models with the new color scheme. This shift comes primarily from BMW's discontinuation of the Glacier Silver base color for the 3 series, but a higher resale value for white vehicles might also be a variable.  In contrast to the prior white Bavarian police BMWs, the new vehicles will be manufactured with a Mine...
