The original iX3 may have bypassed American shores, but BMW is making a bold entrance with its next-generation electric crossover, promising not just superior hardware and software, but unprecedented personalization.
Arriving next summer, the US-bound iX3 is set to be a highly customizable EV, allowing buyers to truly make the vehicle their own. Here’s a look at the exciting options and configurations heading our way, straight from Product Manager Nicholas Gerstner.
Personalization Inside and Out
BMW is opening up the color palette, confirming that the US launch will include all exterior colors already announced for global markets, along with access to special Individual hues.
The focus on personalization extends to the cabin, which offers a range of sophisticated interiors:
A "Special Green Interior" is on the way, a shade yet to be officially revealed.
Digital White will be available, as seen in most press images.
Additional alternatives include Castanea and classic Black.
Upholstery Choices: Customers can choose between durable, high-quality artificial leather (Veganza) or upgrade to the luxury of real leather, with Individual Merino leather in Black already confirmed.
Comfort and Convenience Options
BMW is fine-tuning the iX3's comfort features to meet the high expectations of the US luxury segment:
Seating Comfort: Heated rear seats are being considered as an option, matching features offered in other regions. Ventilated front seats will not be available at launch but could be added later.
Steering Wheel Choices: If the distinctive standard white steering wheel isn't your style, alternatives will be offered, including a different black wheel and an M-branded steering wheel for models equipped with the M Sport Package, providing a sportier, more traditional feel.
The Panoramic Sunroof: A Choice for Every Driver
BMW is offering a thoughtful option for those who have mixed feelings about a full-glass roof:
Standalone Option: The panoramic sunroof will be available as a standalone option.
The Delete Option: Uniquely, even in packages where the sunroof is included, customers can request that the glass roof be deleted at no extra cost.
Manual Sunshade: For those who want the glass panel but prefer to block the sun occasionally, a manually clipped sunshade will be offered.
Future Powertrains and Pricing Outlook
The initial US launch next summer will feature the dual-motor iX3 50 xDrive. However, more accessible options are on the horizon:
iX3 40 xDrive: A more affordable dual-motor configuration is expected to arrive in early 2027, with an estimated starting price of around $55,000.
iX3 40 sDrive: A rear-wheel-drive, single-motor configuration will follow, expected to be the most budget-friendly entry point into the iX3 lineup.
BMW’s strategy with the new iX3 is clear: to deliver an all-electric crossover that is not just technically superior but offers a level of customization that allows American buyers to truly craft their Ultimate Driving Machine.
